In multiplayer a couple of times I've had enemies appear with a Red Cross in a white circle above them. Anybody know what that means?

It means that the opponent used medic to heal your targets. It's pretty useless IMO, unless you have a weapon with low damage rating. Besides, your opponent has wasted 3 OM on that medic.
The ''strategy'' is to keep the opponent's targets alive and make him lose points by getting shot. Use this strategy if the outcome of the game is tight and the opponent has many targets at the same time. On the other hand, if he is a sharp shooter, he can actually make more points by shooting the head of the healing targets.
Like I said, it's pretty useless.
